Seven Random Things: My Hospital Stay

My bloggy friend, Carrie posts a Sunday Seven each week...just 7 random things for the day. So, I'm gonna do just that instead of boring you (and my future self who will likely read this again one day) with the paragraph by paragraph mundane details of my hospital stay.

1. Oreos, Cheese Curls, Lorna Doones, Oreo Cakesters, Gatorade, and a Starbucks Iced White Chocolate Mocha (I love them so much they're on my sidebar!). These were the contents of the goodie bag that my sweet husband brought me on Saturday. I've been in snack heaven!

2. 46 minutes. The length of time two active toddlers can handle being in a private, yet matchbox size hospital room before meltdowns begin! A mommy who misses her little boys can handle meltdowns for 18 minutes before everyone is ready to end the visit!

3. Sleep. Very few consecutive hours to be found here. One example: A nice, but overly helpful nursing assistant came into my room at 5:30am this morning and announced that he was just bringing me fresh ice water. This was after having my blood drawn at 4am, and battling insomnia for an hour.

4. Having an IV in the crease of your arm makes it virtually impossible to do anything (especially type!). Every time I bent my arm, the IV machine made this horrendously loud beeping noise. They finally taught me how to turn it off myself so that I didn't have to call a nurse every time. They clearly didn't teach the person in the next room over. I heard muffled beeping sounds for 40 minutes straight last night. Refer to number 3.

5. When you think you've come to the end of the internet, just start shopping. A slew of new maternity clothes will arrive soon after I get home. When I told my husband, he just smiled. I think he was happy for me! (LOL!)

6. Some nurses are nice. Some aren't. Enough said.

7. I miss my husband. I miss snuggling with him, and laughing before we fall asleep, and playing rock, paper, scissors to see who will get up to turn off the light. I miss his kisses in the morning, and the intense way he reads at night, and the sound of the garage door signaling me that he's home at the end of the day. He's the number 1 reason I'm happy to be going home tomorrow!

YAY! Next time I write I'll be home!

  3. Cute post - I'm glad you sense of humor is still hanging in there! :D You take care of yourself once your home. And, let hubby turn off the light for a while, no need for rock, paper and scissors right now! :D

The rock, paper, scissors with your husband made me laugh. Think that we will try that one. :)

  10. Sarah! Gosh, it's taken me long enough to swing by, hasn't it?! I can't seem to keep up with anything these days, LOL. I'm so glad you're home and I just loved this list! My Sadie is hospitalized quite a bit and I soooooo relate to these, LOL. The nurses in and out all night ... rest?? What's that? They don't let ya sleep for anything. Your very last one was just so sweet. It even made me tear up! I'm sure it was so tough being away from your husband. The garage door is our *signal* here, too. I know you're husband missed you, as well.

Have you clothes come yet?? LOL! That's too funny! If all else fails .... SHOP! :o)

You're too cute! Have a good day!

  11. I'm glad you're home!! I don't think it's for the same reasons, but when I was pregnant, they stuck me in the hospital too. I almost was there for my sons birthday, but I convinced to let me go home on his birthday. I couldn't stand it, NOT AT ALL!!! I am REALLY glad you are home and again, your family is in my prayers.

    God Bless,
    Amber
