Surprise Package!

I LOVE surprises! I always have. I'll never forget the surprise party my siblings threw for me for my 16th birthday! I was so, so surprised...I just couldn't believe it. I walked in, and was just totally shocked! Well, that's how I felt on Friday when I got a package in the mail!

Remember this post? Well, if you missed it, I wrote about all of the foods that I was missing from home since we moved to the Midwest. I love food...even more than surprises, and really do miss those things from home...a lot!

Rewind. Early on in my blogging adventure, I met Leigh Ann. She loves to cook, just like I do, and we connected right away. She lives only about an hour from my hometown, and so we both knew quite a lot about where each other lived. Shortly after I met her blogging, her birthday came. Instead of just blogging about what she did for her birthday, or quietly keeping it to herself (wait, it's Leigh Ann I'm talking about here!), she decided that she would spend 10 days having drawings for incredibly generous gifts on her blog...to celebrate her birthday. I was blown away by her heart and generosity.

On Friday, I got a box. Not a little box...but, a really big box. And, do you know what was in it? Not one...not two, three, or even four boxes of my and Jason's favorite Tastykakes...but 5 boxes!!! AND, two bags of my favorite potato chips! The same ones I wrote about that I was missing so much from home! I just couldn't believe it.

I laughed. I cried. And, the little bean and I jumped up and down. (And the poor little thing is already incredibly hyper!) My husband immediately took a box of his favorites over to his briefcase! LOL! If it's possible to share while chatting online how excited you are, I tried to do that with Leigh Ann. I typed in all caps and used an unprecedented amount of exclamation points!

Leigh Ann, in case all of those caps, and all of those exclamation points didn't communicate all that my heart (and tummy) are feeling, I hope you know how much I loved your gifts, and that I'll never forget your kindness in sending them to me!

I never imagined when I started blogging that I would meet friends here in the bloggy world. But, after a night like I spent with Ginger, and after receiving this incredibly thoughtful and joy-filling package from Leigh Ann, I can tell you...I have met friends. Real friends. And, I'm so very thankful!

  2. First of all, that is the cutest picture of you! You are such a little doll. When are we going out again? Soon..yes?

Secondly, that precious Leigh Ann is one of a kind! I think you know what place she holds in my heart. I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes just thinking about how priceless this gift was for you. I know first hand how my daughter feels being away from home and the little things that she loves and misses. Sometimes it's the small things like food :)

    Yup, we are blessed woman!
