100 Things About Me
Guess what? This is my 200th blog post! So, to celebrate, I'm going to share 200 things about me. Just kidding...who has that kind of time? And, I'm getting ready to hop a plane to Florida!
I just gotta say to those of you who read this blog everyday that sharing snippets of my life and thoughts wouldn't be nearly as much fun without you here. SO, thanks!
100 Things About Me
1.) My Bachelor's Degree is in Political Science.
2.) I'm a huge procrastinator.
3.) I love Cherry Coke.
4.) I have 5 sisters and 3 brothers. I'm number 7.
5.) Jason's mom and my mom have the exact same name - Sharon Lee. (isn't that so weird?)
6.) I believed in Santa until I was 11.
7.) I love to cook and bake...and eat!
8.) I love to play the piano, even though I'm not very good at it.
9.) My mom is a concert pianist.
10.) I am right handed.
11.) I love playing Texas Hold 'Em. And, I win cause I pretend I don't know what I'm doing.
12.) I'm great at ping-pong.
13.) My middle name is Grace.
14.) I make a killer Chicken Pot Pie.
15.) I love funnel cakes.
16.) My favorite home stores are Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware. We now live in a town that has them both in the local mall. YEAH!
17.) Jason and I started dating on April 25, 1997. We got engaged on February 10, 2001. We got married on December 15, 2001. I love to celebrate those days each year!
18.) My water broke with Jack at 3:00 am the morning of my scheduled c-section. We like to say that he wanted us to know that HE picked his birthday. That is so very Jack.
19.) Jason surprised me with a trip to Aruba for our honeymoon. He planned the whole trip, and told me where we were going on our way to the airport. We had an amazing time!
20.) I love to swim.
21.) I tan really easily...give me 2 hours in the sun and I'm a golden brown color.
22.) I was the biggest baby in my family. Now, I'm the smallest.
23.) I am totally, madly, crazily in love with my husband.
24.) I can type 70 words a minute.
25.) I love to sing. I had a scholarship to the Peabody Institute in high school.
26.) I am terrified of heights.
27.) I once climbed the Dunn's River Falls in Jamaica. It was amazing.
28.) I have never been to Disneyworld...but, I have been to Disneyland.
29.) We have picked out names for the little bean...but, we're not telling!
30.) I hit the jackpot with my in-laws. They are the most amazing parents and grandparents. (I love you, Mom and Dad!)
31.) I love watching NFL Football and college basketball. I do not enjoy watching baseball unless I'm at a game. Even then, I like the nachos better than the game.
32.) I love going out for hibachi. But, I hate sushi. Yuck!
33.) The spicier, the better.
34.) I'm an internet news junkie.
35.) I love 80's music.
36.) Christmas is my favorite holiday.
37.) I don't like olives.
38.) When I left for college (that was only an hour away), I was terribly homesick. I came home every weekend and only stayed one semester. I finished college in my hometown and loved it!
39.) I was made to be the mom of boys.
40.) It really bugs me when people say, "I could care less." One is supposed to say, "I couldn't care less."
41.) I prefer the chocolate cookie part of an Oreo to the cream inside. Sometimes, I'll pick off the cream, and just eat the cookie.
42.) My Dad would sing the West Virginia University fight song as my sisters and I twirled our batons around on the front porch. This is one of my favorite childhood memories.
43.) I lived in two blue houses growing up.
44.) It doesn't bother me at all to leave the dishes in the sink overnight.
45.) I love it that my husband gets me. He just does.
46.) March Madness rules!
47.) When I'm sad, I cry in the shower. I like not knowing where my tears end and the hot water begins.
48.) I love homemade hot chocolate. I make it almost everyday.
49.) I went to Turkey on a missions trip in college.
50.) I'm not a night or morning person. Given the option, I would crawl into bed early, and get up late! :) I don't see that happening any time in my near future.
51.) When I found out I was pregnant with Jack, I took a running leap into Jason's arms. I then persisted to jump up and down for quite a while. I think that explains a lot where Jack is concerned. :)
52.) I'm anemic...so I crunch ice a lot. It's particularly bad when I'm pregnant.
53.) The first car I bought for myself was a 1987 Toyota Corolla SR5. I bought it for $4,300.00 in 1994. I was working as a nanny and paid for the whole thing myself. That car got me through college, and then when I graduated, I bought a brand new Ford Explorer. It was my dream car!
54.) I drive a Tahoe now. I love it, but have come to realize that minivans were invented for a reason...motherhood.
55.) I wear the same necklace everyday. It's a diamond necklace that Jason gave me. I never take it off.
56.) I desperately want to learn to sew.
57.) I talk. A lot.
58.) Jason listens. A lot.
59.) My grandmother always reminded me that you can count your true friends on one hand at the end of a lifetime. The older I get, the truer I find that to be.
60.) I have a pair of black leather boots that I bought at Nine West for $5 in 1996. I still wear them a lot. They have given the saying, "getting your money's worth" a whole new meaning to me!
61.) When getting my choice of places to eat out, I'll almost always choose Mexican.
62.) I always wanted to get married at Christmas time, even when I was a little girl. In each of my Barbie weddings as a child, it was always Christmas time, and cold! My wish came true...I married my sweetheart 10 days before Christmas. It felt truly magical!
63.) I played the clarinet for 12 years. I started when I was five, and would balance the bottom of it on my foot because it was too heavy for me to hold.
64.) My grandmothers' names are Ann and Dorothy.
65.) Growing up, we had a dog named Midnight. He ran away after giving us many years of enjoyment.
66.) We also had birds, guinea pigs, mice, cats, fish, hamsters, and a lot of fleas...thanks to the dog and cats.
67.) My family spent every summer vacation at the beach on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I am flooded with memories every time I return there.
68.) I take really, really, really hot showers.
69.) I sleep on my stomach. Right now, I miss it terribly.
70.) I like to wear funky socks. No, not funky smelling socks, just fun patterns and designs.
71.) I don't like those glittery, sparkly holiday sweaters with big Christmas trees on them...or heaven forbid - lights! BUT, I do like the faces of the people wearing them...they usually seem more chipper than the rest of us.
72.) When I was a child, I picked Creamed Chipped Beef on toast for my birthday dinner every year. I'm actually scared to make it now, that I might find it completely gross and ruin my memories of my birthday! LOL!
73.) Being one of 9 children, I was hardly ever alone with my mom. For my 10th birthday, she took me out - just me and her. She gave me $10 to spend (as she did every year for our birthdays), and I bought this little labeling machine. Afterwards, she took me to choir practice with her and got me an ice cream cone on the way home. I will never forget this birthday and how special I felt.
74.) I was very uncomfortable at the end of my pregnancy with Jack. I carried him to 39 weeks, and he was 8 lbs. My doctor had guessed that he'd be about 6 lbs - "about the right size for my 4' 11" frame", she said. As soon as she delivered him she announced, "Now I know why you were so uncomfortable!"
75.) I became an aunt when I was 7.
76.) Whenever I dreamed of getting married, I never imagined that it would be THIS good.
77.) My feet have grown one whole shoe size since I started having kids.
78.) A few of my favorite movies are The Scarlet Pimpernel, Overboard, Can't Buy Me Love, Hoosiers, and The Fugitive. Those are just a random few.
79.) I was born with a full head of dark hair. Then it turned blonde for a lot of my childhood, then turned dark, again. I like having control over what color it is now! ;)
80.) After Jason and I got married, we planned a weekend trip away every three months. We still cherish every moment of those times away together.
81.) If Jack had been a girl, her name would have been Makenna. If Max had been a girl, her name would have been...wait, I can't tell you.
82.) My favorite cartoon growing up was the Snorks.
83.) C.S. Lewis is one of my favorite authors.
84.) I love to shop. I love shopping for bargains, and then when someone compliments me on something, I have a terrible time NOT telling them how cheap it was.
85.) I have a photographic memory...just like my Dad. Though, I hesitate to even compare mine to his...his memory was amazing. But, I sometimes scare people with what I remember.
86.) Most days, I think I'm a great mom.
87.) I pray everyday that my boys think so.
88.) I think Target has one of the best logos out there. A bullseye...what great marketing! Of course, the FedEx logo is pretty cool, too!
89.) I've gotten two professional massages in my life, and they were more glorious than I had imagined.
90.) I love yellow roses...especially the ones with red tips on the ends.
91.) I think Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts are amazing actors. I'll watch just about any movie with either of them in it.
92.) My first boyfriend completely broke my heart. Looking back, I would never know the depth of true joy I have with Jason had that not happened.
93.) I am not a creature of habit, but I don't like change. Hmmm...
94.) I love to shop on Ebay. I love to sell on Ebay. Gooooooooooo, Ebay!
95.) I don't really like colors in the peach family.
96.) I love red.
97.) It bothers me when my under*wear don't match my clothes. SO, they usually do. (the person who originally introduced me to this concept shall remain nameless...but I can guarantee you that her under*wear match her clothes today!)
98.) I used to put on my makeup in the car on my commute to work everyday. YES, I was one of those people.
99.) I love plaid.
1oo.) Being a mother has taught me more about compassion than any other experience in my life.
What a neat post, Sarah! It's fun to know all those little idiosyncracies that make each person who he or she is. Thanks for being willing to share!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your 200th post.
ReplyDeleteBTW ... We have numbers 3, 7, 10, 21, 23, 25 (me w/o scholarship), 26, 33, 34, 35, 36, 40 (my word is "gotten"), 41, 56, 57, 58, 84 and probably others in common. :-D
Now get to the airport.
Wow, I don't think I could even think of 100 things to write about myself, but that was really neat. I like to know little tidbits of people.
ReplyDeleteWONDERFUL list. There were so many that made my head nod in agreement. We have a lot in common (especially the matching under clothes!)

Holey, moley... this list is awesome... in both senses of the word. I like this idea for a post. Must've taken you two weeks to finish this one! Of course that 70 WPM typing helped out, too.
ReplyDeleteHave a fun weekend!
Envious of the $5 boots buy!! What a deal! I didn't read them all but so interesting.
ReplyDeleteBy the way - the laundry! YIKES! Why did you have to mention it?? Now I am reminded of my growing piles!!! :)

Fun list! My 25th post is coming soon. Perhaps I will steal this idea....
Sarah,
ReplyDeleteI loved reading your 100 list. My oldest was 8 #12 oz. And if I remember correctly, you and I are exactly the same height- 4'11 3/4". Yowza!
If we guess the anonymous person who matches und*ies to clothing - do we win something? heehee
ReplyDeleteSo much fun to read this! I drive a yukon (gmc's suburban) and I gave up my minivan in June - wouldn't want it back though!
As much as I want to go back and see what you and JM have in common - it just feels like too much work!
I hope you are having a wonderful time, btw, and I'm missing our chats.
You did such an awesome job with this list - such fun to read!!
