Jack's First Snow (and a recipe!)

This morning, I woke up wondering if the ground would be blanketed with snow. It wasn't, but snow is on it's way to our town! If not today, then in the next couple of days.

I'm not quite sure how I feel about snow. I suppose I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with it. It's kind of a "please just let me be able to get to the mall so that we don't all go crazy" kind of feeling, but I do love the way it creates a winter wonderland outside. But, I can tell you that there is one excited three-year old in our house who feels only one way towards snow...

...HE LOVES IT!

So, in honor of the impending snow and our snow-loving boy, here is a video Jason made of Jack's first experience in the snow in our front yard! He was 16 months old at the time and was in total awe of it. We love this memory of him.

(There is music on this video!)

And, since a few of you asked what recipe I use for my daily cup of homemade hot chocolate (that I mentioned in my 100 Things About Me post), I thought I'd post it today. And, of course, I'm enjoying it out of my incredibly special hot chocolate mug that my best friend, Lauren, gave me for Christmas last year! She rocks! Enjoy!

"Perfectly Chocolate" Hot Cocoa
recipe from Hershey's...

2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
dash salt
1 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Mix sugar, cocoa, and salt in large mug. Heat milk in microwave at HIGH 1-1 1/2 minutes or until hot. Gradually add milk to cocoa mixture; stir well. Stir in vanilla.

Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings for an extra special treat!

  6. We make the same hot chocolate and it is wonderful. It isnt odd to come to our house in the winter and see a huge pot (I double the recipe or triple it) on the stove(it stays there all day). Love it!

  14. Cute, you all are going to have so much fun this year in the snow. It gets even more fun as they get older and can build snowmen, throw snowballs, and sled! I can't wait for our first...nothing like it!

Like Bethanne, I have made hot chocolate this way on the stove, but I don't know if I have ever tried it per cup. I'll have to now!

  16. Yum---I've been enjoying a mug of hot chocolate every day too with whipped cream. I wonder how much of that is going to my hips though. :)

The weather change calls for a nice hot mug of it though.
