Mall Excursion
I have successfully instilled in Jack my love for the mall.
This morning, he woke up and said, "Let's go to the mall today, Mom!" Ahhhhh, music to my ears. Currently however, my ears are attached to a very pregnant body, and I wasn't immediately sure I wanted to spend the morning waddling from store to store. BUT, images of those red and white sale signs provided the encore that persuaded me to dress two fidgety toddlers, put on a pair of socks (not the easiest task at the moment), and walk out the door.
Sales? YEP! I did major damage had major success today!!
Of course, a mall trip would not be complete without Jack's amusing chatter:
Jack: "Can we go to the old lady store? I want to get a new mouse for all the kids in my class and then I can take my mouse to my class, too!" (Translation: old lady store=Old Navy. Grandma got Jack a stuffed mouse there and we told him he couldn't take it to church because the other kids didn't have a mouse to play with. His solution: let's just get one for everybody!)

Mommy: Do you want to go to Pottery Barn with me?
Jack: Yeah, that's a great idea, Mom.
We walk into PB.
Jack: Mom, I don't see the animals. (Oops, I guess this barn doesn't have any!)

Mommy (while walking into Yankee Candle): Jack, please don't touch anything in here unless you ask me first, okay?"
Jack: Can I touch? (Let's just get it out of the way now, Mom...LOL!)

And lastly, we walked from one side of the mall to the other in the hopes of letting out some energy at the treehouse. However, when we got there, the normally crowded and rowdy treehouse was empty. The entire area was surrounded with yellow and black caution tape, and the flowers and bees were all turned on their sides. "What?" Oh no. This would normally be grounds for a MAJOR meltdown, but Jack surprisingly took it in stride and agreed on sitting at a nearby table and sharing a pretzel with Max.
However, I can't tell you how many moms walked by while we were sitting there, stopped, disgustingly repeated the same "What?", and had to deal with said meltdowns. I felt for them, because my swollen feet would normally be in their tired and exasperated shoes.
Not today, though. Jack saved his meltdown for the car, as 3 hours at the mall just wasn't quite enough time for him. He's gonna make a great husband one day! ;)
I wonder what they are doing to the play area. Glad you didn't have to deal with a melt down and yeah for the good deals you got.
ReplyDeleteOk, the comment about Pottery Barn made me laugh out loud. I love how precious kids are!! Good for you in getting out & about!! Maybe someday I'll venture out by myself with all 3 kids. Levi is 7 1/2mo. old & I still haven't gone out to the grocery store by myself with all 3. Good thing my husband loves doing the shopping with me!!
ReplyDeleteSo jealous of the Pottery Barn! We would have to drive 4 plus hours to get to the closest one!
ReplyDeleteHaven't been to Yankee Candle yet. You didn't buy out all the "Mistletoe" candles, did you? I'm addicted to those, thank you very much. ;-D
ReplyDeleteHe is going to make a great husband someday- what a shopper! I love their perspective on things - his little commentary was precious. I would enjoy the mall too if it had a big treehouse to play in how fun! Sounds like the treehouse will be a place to let them get energy out when the baby comes :o)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that God graced your time at the mall with your children. It might be awhile before you can go again.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, they are going to make great husbands one day!
You were at the mall with the kids on my day off and you didn't call me to come meet your for some coffee? Aw man!
ReplyDeleteDave and I walked by the tree play area the other day and it was so loaded with little kids. I said, "Now there is a breeding ground for sick kids." I guess I'm getting old. It looked like a nightmare to me instead of a place for the kids to have a blast.
Jack's so cute; miss you guys! I got some deals this week too; I love January!
ReplyDeleteYou know, T's mom used to tell me what a great shopper he was when he was little - he didn't complain or fuss while she went from store to store. NOW? I can't even convince him to go to the mall with me. Don't do the same to your future daughter-in-laws!! LTLOL :-D
ReplyDeletei used to take my kids shopping all the time - especially when they were real little. it was my escape, my retreat for the day. glad you had such a good time. did you buy him a mouse?
ReplyDeleteNow you KNOW that is my favorite outing :) Yippee! A man after my heart...he he!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy girl and get off those feet some today!
Aw, how cute! He's growing up a little :) Hope you're feeling ok...praying for you! xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteI want to hear what you got! Did you look at those jeans for post-baby body? Sounds like Jack did really well. We walked by the treehouse this weekend and it was *crawling* with kids. I didn't care about the germs so much, it was more my tiny ones getting trampled! Thankfully, they are just as satisfied with the carousel, so we have been doing that instead lately. I still can't get out there without Dave, though! Can't wait until Saturday!
ReplyDeleteWow, you surely are adventurous. I guess not much stops this preggo Mommy! And I too wonder what they are doing to the play area.
ReplyDeleteYay to you for getting out of the house and getting some 'exercies' (that's why you went, right?) :)
ReplyDeleteI love your little Jack's personality. He cracks me up. What a cutie.
