A Book Challenge, Giveaway, and PRIZES: Cold Tangerines
A few months ago, my husband handed me a book and said, "You must read this book. It is you."
I am not a reader. Ok, that's not entirely true. Give me a good magazine and I'm hooked. But, I have a hard time getting through the first chapter of most books. However, with a preview like that, my husband (and the book) had my attention. And, written as 40 short essays (think blog posts!), I knew even I could read this one.
Skeptically, I began reading it that night. And, something happened that never happens to me...I simply couldn't put this book down.
The book was Cold Tangerines: Celebrating the Extraordinary Nature of Everyday Life. And, you know what? It is me. And, if you're a reader of this blog, I think it just might be you, too.
I'll stop there (for now)! Because I want you to read this book. And, I want to know what you think.
The publisher of Cold Tangerines has given me 10 copies of this book to giveaway here on my blog. YES, 10 copies! And, you can win one! All you have to do is agree to write a short review of the book on your blog. Share what you think of it.
But, it doesn't end there...
After all the reviews are posted, I'll randomly choose three winners from the reviews for the following prizes:
First winner: $50 Amazon.com Gift Card
Second winner: $25 Outback Steakhouse Gift Card
Third Winner: $10 Starbucks Gift Card
And that's it. It's that easy! So, here's the deal:
1. Leave a comment on this post letting me know you'd like to participate and get a free copy of Cold Tangerines. Be sure to leave your email address if it's not linked to your name. If more than 10 of you are interested, then I'll do a drawing for the winners of the free copies this Friday, February 29th. (If you don't win one of the free copies, you can still write a review and be eligible for the prizes.)
2. Write a short review of Cold Tangerines and post it on your blog on Monday, March 31st. I'll post all of the links here so that we can read each other's reviews. (If you don't have a blog, you can still participate. You can post a review on Amazon.com and be eligible for the prizes.)
3. On Friday, April 4th, I'll announce the winners of the prizes here.
Come along with us as we share about this book together! Hey, maybe this will lead to a regular gig here at Short Stop...wouldn't that be something? :)

Count me in too! I am always looking for a book recomendation. I'm kind of like you in that I usually fall asleep in the first chapter. The book is usually due back at the library before I have a chance to read very much. But given a deadline and a challenge. I'm in! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteOk, so I was so excited I forgot to leave my email address and now my google password isn't working. It has been one of those days...

Looks very cool! As much as I'd love to read, I'll have to pass this time, though I'll add the book to my list.
ReplyDeleteI have enough on the list with the move and all, ya know? :)
Sounds fun - can't wait to see what others think and certainly hope there will be more in the future!
You know I devour books! This will be good for me----I tend to read lots of heavy stuff.
ReplyDeleteYou've intrigued me by saying this book is you----I like you so I must like the book. Heck! There's my review already! :)
This is funny...I was JUST thinking about this book yesterday. For some reason, I remembered seeing on your blog that you were reading it, and I was wondering if it was good. I was thinking I might have to put it on my birthday list, but didn't like the thought of waiting until August.
ReplyDeleteSo...yes...I'm in. :) I love reading, and this book sounds great!
Opportunity to win a book! I'm in.
ReplyDeleteI found out about your blog from your husband's cousin, Kristy. I have a 2 month old little guy along with a 2 year old little man and his 4 year old sister. I've enjoyed reading your posts. Count me in on the book challenge.

ReplyDeleteThis book definitely sounds like me, too. I have fallen in love with "the ordinary."

ReplyDeleteOh, I love that book! I think that I've bought at least 7 copies to give as gifts, and then I also have had two copies of my own which I have given away. I have another copy on it's way, (so don't need to enter in the book giveaway) but I totally want to join in on the recommending part!
ReplyDeleteI would love to do this.
