Bubbles
Bubbles.
They're an essential part of bath time around here. With four little feet jumping up and down in anticipation, I turn on the water and pour in a capful of their favorite bubble bath. I swish my hand all through the water. And, immediately...
Bubbles.
They put bright smiles on the faces of these children that I love so dearly and evoke unparalleled squeals of laughter. But, these bubbles...these playful, bouncy, weightless balls of floating joy are only possible by the heavy flow of water from the faucet, and from the "swishing" of my hand.
Bath time just wouldn't be the same without them.
And proverbially, neither would my life.
As a mother, especially a mother of young ones, I long for moments of quiet, for days when peace reigns supreme. I long for the fulfilled promise that "He will lead me beside still waters." (Psalm 23:2) In the daily chaos of loving, training, feeding, diapering, cleaning, playing and laundering, I yearn for quiet. Peace.
Still waters.
But, God's loving, all-knowing hand swishes below the surface, and He allows the crazy chaos of motherhood to stir the waters of my life. And, out float these beautifully shaped bubbles of hysterical mayhem that fill our memories and our blogs and our scrapbooks with moments of pure joy...
Bubbles.
Even if just for today, let's revel in the chaos and laugh as our uniquely shaped bubbles come floating up out of the swishy water beneath.
For God is the ultimate Bubblemaker. And, what beautiful bubbles they are!
Sarah- what a great post!
ReplyDeleteI love that picture- that is for sure a scrapbook moment.
That is great! I am sure you have heard it before but from a mom who doesn't get to help with any bath times anymore... enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteSmiles!
Thank you for the great reminder to slow down and enjoy the bubbles of family - rather than yearn for bubbles to keep to myself.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder. It's hard to think that we need those bubbles, when you long for the peace. But it's important to cherish those precious bubbles too.
ReplyDeleteCute picture of Max too!
I love how your mind works - taking the every day and finding a lesson. It still reminds me of the UPS post. :) I'd love some still waters right now (sick), but I do love hearing the giggles from my own little bubbles.
ReplyDeleteOh what a sweet post. I love your perspective on life.

ReplyDelete(BTW .. what kind of bubble bath do you use for the kids? Our bubbles never come out that "bubbly.")
I so miss bubble baths...ones by myself...in my tub with a good book ;)
ReplyDeleteBut, I do love the bubbles made by my kids all day.
