Catch-Up Day
We're back home. And, it's snowing here.
I almost ran outside and spit on it. Almost.
The fact that our babysitter lives next door and her parents might see me as a crazed, early morning, snow streaker kept me inside. So, I just stuck my tongue out at it and poured an extra large bowl of Fruit Loops to console myself.
I gotta tell you that our kids are traveling champs. Yes, they spill Cheerios and apple juice and they smush Oatmeal Creme Pies into Oatmeal Creme playdoh. But, they endure the 11 hour car ride better than we do. Of course, they watch movies the whole time and we turn around and look at them with their mouths gaping open and drool coming out, and both agree that they're getting dumber by the second.
That's 39,600 seconds of getting dumber-ness.
So, today I'll get out the flashcards and play Beethoven and feed them green vegetables. That should make up for it.
I have lots of stories and pictures to share. We had a jam packed week full of fun that even a nasty 24-hour stomach virus couldn't dampen.
But, today is a laundry, open the mail, make a grocery list, pay bills, take a nap day.
Oh, and flashcards, Beethoven...
You get the idea.
You make me laugh. I think that's a great idea to spit at it. I might just do that!
ReplyDeleteGlad you guys had a great trip. We have a 6 hour trip coming next week and I don't think my younger two are going to ride as nice as yours did!
So glad you had a good visit and are back home safely. So sorry you have snow! Yuck! Get some rest, was so nice to see you last week :) Sandra
ReplyDeleteSarah... this post had me LOL girl. You are hilarious.
ReplyDeleteThe spitting.
The dumber-ness.
The veggies and Beethoven.
Hilarious.
Welcome home! It is always nice to get home but it takes so long to get unpacked and back into the groove!
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear the boys traveled so well! When taking long road trips the key is to keep em happy - if it is watching some movies so be it. I always say our DVD player is to keep my hubby entertained as much as the kids :o)
Get a nap and enjoy being at home!
"Of course, they watch movies the whole time and we turn around and look at them with their mouths gaping open and drool coming out, and both agree that they're getting dumber by the second."
ReplyDeleteSo funny! Why is it that I can relate to this?! You crack me up. Welcome back.
Glad you're back. I can relate on so many levels. As a matter of fact, my girls are currently under the kitchen table, pretending their on a trip and Anna just asked Ruthie "What movie do you want to watch?" We were all about the dumber-ness too. LOL!
ReplyDeleteSad... back to the punch-you-in-the-gut reality moments directly following a fun trip. I feel like I'm still picking up the pieces from ours, and we've been back over a week now. *Sigh* - such is life.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the green veggies and Beethoven.
Looking forward to hearing all about your trip!
I'm glad you all made it home! Miss you already...love ya!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about the snow. I won't even tell you that it's hot and sunny here. OOPS. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteI am sure the flashcards will more than make up for the 22 hours of movies! Good luck with that.
"So, today I'll get out the flashcards and play Beethoven and feed them green vegetables. That should make up for it."
ReplyDeleteLOL.
I sure hope so, because that's what I'm doing here.
Welcome Home!
ReplyDeleteI was pretty unhappy to see the snow too - you did miss one snowstorm while you were gone, if that makes you feel any better!
ReplyDeleteWelcome home indeed!
ReplyDeleteNow you're home and I'm leaving - we've gotta plan these trips better! ;-)
Enjoy being "home!"
glad to hear you're home okay and that you had a nice weekend. will look forward to future posts.
ReplyDeleteto this day, our kids love road trips. but it's because they sit and watch videos all day, take naps, and get to eat fast food the whole time. i think our days of road trips are over :]
Welcome home. I wanted to spit on the snow when my car got hit! Thankfully we are on the homeward stretch and spring is just around the corner (at least that's what I'm telling myself,)
ReplyDeleteI love your sense of humor...and your ability to convey it so well in your writing. Welcome home.
ReplyDeleteOh Sarah, It is so funny that all of us moms think a lot alike and have the same experiences. It looks like all of us can identify with the movie-watching-face, the vegetables, and laundry. But, not the snow here. Maybe an inch or two!- all rain! We hade 2 "rain/ice days" off school. Not fun- no snow balls fights with wet ice. Hope to see you sometime :)!
ReplyDeleteYou are an amazing Mother!!!
