Works For Me Wednesday: Greatest Hits Edition
This post is part of Rocks In My Dryer's Works For Me Wednesday Greatest Hits Edition.
Whoa! That's a mouthful!
Today, she is hosting the best of the best in Works For Me Wednesday posts. And, being that this cookbook is an important pseudo-member of our family, and I haven't had the chance to share it with most of you, I pulled this little gem out from my archives and am posting it again today.
In fact, I once gave one away here on this blog, and 389 people entered the giveaway!
Y'all, this cookbook rocks! It's just that simple.
Happy Wednesday!

Originally published July 18, 2007.One of the reasons that I am able to get a good dinner on the table for my family every night is a cookbook called Dream Dinners: Turn Dinnertime into Family Time with 100 Assemble-and-Freeze Meals.
I have given this cookbook to most of my girlfriends because they have tasted and enjoyed and watched me NOT work during many dinners they've had at my house.
The idea behind this cookbook is that you make 3 batches of a dish; have one tonight, and two go into the freezer. There are instructions with each recipe for how to make the meal for that night, and how to bake it after it's been frozen. SO simple, easy, and very mom-friendly!
This cookbook has REAL meals in it. Not the kind that are impossible to make, that have weird ingredients that you'd spend an hour searching for in the grocery store, and a ridiculous amount of money obtaining. This cookbook is great for busy moms because it allows you to give your family a great meal every night of the week, even if it's been one of those CRAZY days!
It's also great for entertaining...so when your company comes, you haven't "trashed the kitchen" (my husband's term!). You can pull something out of the freezer that is delicious and impressive!
If you want to see one of the meals that I LOVE from this cookbook, click here. I make this dish on a regular basis because my husband and I enjoy it so much! I've served it to company several times, and it always gets rave reviews!
Dream Dinners. Works for me!

Yet another book to add to my A*mazon wish list.
ReplyDeletebtw ... how much cooking have you been able to do?
Sounds like a good one - I'll have to look for it!
ReplyDeletelooks like a great cookbook. that might work for me because before long it's going to be just two of us eating dinner together. we could eat a portion and then freeze the rest for another night.
ReplyDeleteit is going to be weird.
i'm actually looking forward to it being just don and i, but i think the meals are going to be the hardest part.
hope you're feeling better.

ReplyDeleteThat cookbook sounds neat! I actually went and did Let's Dish out here in Alexandria, though I really liked the recipes the ingredients weren't as fresh as I would have liked... It would be fun to try it at home.
ReplyDeleteIn your free time... :)... could you maybe send out a few of the recipe titles so I could get an idea of what types of food are in the book?
I'm still looking through Deceptively Delicious, but I'll have to check this one out too.
ReplyDeleteBTW, those pots look AWESOME on my mantle!
Looks great, I might have to get that!
ReplyDeleteGood to know. I love practical cookbooks and this sounds like it's just the ticket.

Sounds like a wonderful resource, I'll have to check it out!
ReplyDeleteGot mine the other day! I'm in the process of picking out a few fav's to make next week. Phil's mad because there aren't any pictures - what a baby! haha

Thanks for the tip! I've always wanted to use one of the services like Dream Dinners but couldn't justify the cost. I think it's great that they've revealed their recipes in a cookbook!
