Thursday Thirteen: Jack Speak

Jack. Still making us laugh.

1. "Big boys are not later sleepers, Mom." (No, and neither are little boys. Maybe that's why Mom is so tired.)

2. "Can you please put some suitcase on my toofbrush?" (He says this every morning and we don't want him to stop, so we don't correct him.)

3. "Door, this is Jack's playroom." (The door stubbed his toe. The door got a talking to.)

4. "I got this sticky water in my nose, again." (Yep, I hate that, too!)

5. "I'm a great fixer, and you're a great maker." (Jack: holding his toy drill. Mommy: holding her hand mixer.)

6. "You're the ooooooldest Momma." (My parents did always seem so old to me.)

7. "Do you got high maintenance today, Max?" (Boy, he picks up on everything!)

8. "The other kids are getting on my nerve." (Big kids pushing at the mall play area. At least he's only got one of them. I've got a whole boatload they can "get on".)

9. "I just ate mud, so I have to brush my teef." (I wonder how many times I will hear this over the years. Good thing he loves to brush his teeth. With suitcase.)

10. "Mom, you're setting me up." (Translation: upsetting me. I hear this on the way up the stairs to naptime.)

11. "It's ok, Max. When I was a baby, I spilled in that seat, too." (Isn't he still a baby? I suppose he'll always be my baby.)

12. "I can do anyfing." (I love it that he believes this about himself. Except when it follows me saying "no" to something. Still trying to explain to him the difference.)

13. "I'm firsty." (I love this. Just love it. I will cry the first time he says "thirsty".)

  7. "'Can you please put some suitcase on my toofbrush?' (He says this every morning and we don't want him to stop, so we don't correct him.)"

I made the mistake of correcting Just Son when he said "Ahoy there, ladies" instead of "mateys." I really regret that.

  8. I love it! The first time my niece tried to tell me she was thirsty, I thought she was fussy. "Aunt Sawah, I'm firssy." My four-year-old nephew had to translate. :)

  9. Oh what a joy you have! Love how he lectured the door and his comment of setting him up. Little boys are precious with their invincibility. They can do anything! My little guy says, "I can do it mom, God will help me!" So sweet. Thanks for sharing about your boys.

  11. Oh what a cute list of sayings - I'm so glad you have them written down because I didn't and now I have forgotten some of them.

  12. Yup, you will cry the first time he says his words correctly. Alicia couldn't say her "r's" in kindergarten. I was so concerned (now it seems so silly) and when she finally mastered them in first grade.....I CRIED!

Thank the Lord for videos to remember.

  13. Oh Sarah Grace! I just laughed so much to read those. Put this in a journal for him, he will get a kick out of this one day. He is so sweet. Suitcase on his toofbrush, that is too funny. Andrew used to call Grapes....frets! No idea where it came from, but we laughed every time and now we all say frets. Even to eachother as grown ups :)

    Miss you
    San

  16. I wanna call it suitcase on my toofbrush too!!

Quintin used to call Elmo - Melmo, which I always thought was cute. He must have a good ear or something because he didn't have many problems with sounds...then there is Elle (maybe I'll have to copy this and do one on her!!)

  24. These are SO adorable!!! You should print that one out and put it in a scrapbook.

We miss Mitchell saying "We can do it to-day-ger!" instead of together.

  25. Oh Sarah! This is SO awesome! The good thing I can tell you is that things evolve ever so slowly that you won't notice when he stops saying "firsty" and starts saying "thirsty". But you will stop at some point and say, wait a minute, when did you stop/change/grow????
