D-I-S-N-Y
I am in trouble. Big, big trouble.
I took the kids to the mall yesterday, and as we were walking out of Gym.boree (aka "the t.v. store"), Jack excitedly pulled on my shirt and pleaded:
"Are we going to the D-I-S-N-Y store now?"
He spelled it out, y'all. Incorrectly. But, he spelled it out nonetheless.
And, with those 5 little letters, I realized that life with him will never be the same.
So, goodbye:
"Should we go to the P-A-R-K?
"Wanna take them to get some I-C-E C-R-E-A-M?
"Should we let them watch C-A-R-S?
I guess I'll be Googling, "How to speak in code for overachieving three year-olds who can spell."
And, surely praying, "Oh, sweet mercy, how can I keep my baby from growing up?"
ahahhaa... You're toast! What a wonderful problem to have.
ReplyDeleteGoodness... you didn't think that with a daddy who works for a publisher that your baby boy would be illiterate, didja? Not for long!
Congrats!
Ahhhh, what sweet moments!!
ReplyDeleteSooooo? Did you take him to Disny?
Looks like you have a smart boy there!! My boys call that store Disney Land...oh, little do they know!!
ReplyDeletei hate to break this to you girlfriend, but you CAN'T keep him from growing up. enjoy the ride =)
ReplyDeleteLOL! We've gone through that this year too. And have tried both pig-latin (Abby figured it out in no time) and the alphabet that Ron uses at work to spell things out (Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta...), but it takes me way too long to figure out what he's trying to say. :)
ReplyDeleteuh-oh...
ReplyDeleteawwwww Jack you can't grow up!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, come on now - you knew you were in trouble long before you discovered he could spell. LOL! Oh my goodness we love that boy and all his smarty-pants ways. :)
ReplyDeleteFunny! When Mac was 2 he was spelling. P-E-P-S-I
ReplyDeleteYou are in trouble my dear - and this is only the beginning! :)
ReplyDeletethe days of spelling in front of that boy are over! i remember when that day ended with morgan -it is time to come up with a secret code but then it doesn't take long for them to figure that out as well.
ReplyDeleteLOL about gym.boree - landon calls it the tv store as well :o)
Oh yeah, I remember all to well when Jen started spelling everything. She was four and could read and spell. My mother would come over and spell out the words she didn't want Jen to hear and Jenna would repeat the word back to her. My mother was flabergasted.
ReplyDeleteOh those smarty pants kids!
What a genious you have!! Hmmm, can you try pig latin? Might buy you a few months at least!!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right - when the spelling starts the fun ends.
ReplyDeleteI love it! If you can figure out how to keep them from growing up be sure to share it with us all.
ReplyDeleteSmiles!
