Life. In Color.

Brown. Boxes. Boxes. And, more boxes. Since I've already visited this topic, I'll spare you more box talk. But, there is enough cardboard in this house right now to make a lifetime supply of those Starbucks please-don't-burn-my-hand cup holder thingys.

Green. With envy. Not green, green. Perhaps a light sage or mint green. Because my hubby can check his email, facebook, the news, and watch the funniest and latest You Tube clips at work. On his lunch break, of course. And, I can't. We don't have internet access at our new house yet due to incompetent sales and service people at our internet provider. [insert exasperated sigh] I feel so out of touch with everything planet Earth related. Can someone please tell me if Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong are still together? Oh, and did Brangelina have their twins yet? You know, the important things in life. (So, how am I posting this, you ask? Jason is sound asleep next to me and I have heisted his Blackberry.)

Red. The color of the bulls eye adorned store that I am frequenting every. single. day. I heart Target, y'all, and if our credit card bill at the end of the month is any indication of how much, then I really, really, really heart Target. I tell you what, if Target's fiscal year ended on June 3oth, I am certain that my family single-handedly gave it the end of the year push in sales it was hoping for. We have a house full of unpacked boxes. And, I'm bringing in Target bags every day. Somethin' just seems wonky about that.

White. Egg shell white. For the first time in my life, I'm living in a house with a well. And, well (hee hee), that sulfur-y smell of rotten eggs pouring out onto my head during a shower is not entirely pleasant. However, it's better today than it was yesterday, and I'm told it will probably go away as we use the water more and more. If nothing else, I saw a sign at the local hardware store in town today that said, "Free water testing." Otherwise read: "New neighbors with the rotten egg smelling water, call us."

Blue. Bedding, that is. And, it reverses to cars and trucks and jeeps traveling down dirt roads. See those two little preschoolish boys sitting over there on my sidebar? They've moved into a room together. With unbunked bunk beds. The squeals of laughter that came from inside that door before bedtime tonight are the stuff that makes my Mommy heart leap. Literally. My big boys. Sharing a room together. I can hardly stand it.

And, with that Red, White and Blue ending to this colorful life update, I'm signing off for the last time this week to start celebrating the long holiday weekend.

Happy 4th of July, y'all!

  3. Oh, I totally heart Target way too much. Which, of course, is why Dave gets that nervous edge to his voice when he asks, "Oh, why did you go there today?" because he knows I just comfortably expanded this month's credit card bill. But really, I ask you, who can pass up $10 sheets, or a $12 lamp? :)

  4. You live such a colorful life.

So ... you're telling me that Blackberrys (Blackberries?) don't come with photo editing software? What good is that?

  5. Hahaha... Wow... You did a great job writing all that on a Blackberry! Seriously!

Neat story about the boys sharing a room! That is such beautiful music, no?

Ugh about the smelly water. It's funny adjusting to a new home, isn't it?

We frequented Home Depot a lot after moving, but maybe Target has some things, too. :) You deserve it girl, after renting so long. Enjoy your new place! Put color wherever you want!

About the boxes... the cardboard smell goes away eventually. :)

  6. LOOOVED this post! How creative!

    Observations:

Brown: They're called "Java Jackets" I believe

Green: Yup, ALWAYS on a lunch break. Nice work on posting with a blackberry.

Red: Oh how I heart Target. I think it is non-negotiable to make several trips there after you move. I loved the "fiscal year" and year-end push. Now where would you get ideas like that?

    White: Yuck. Best of luck.

Blue: YAY!!! So glad they love their room!

    Happy Fourth!

  10. Having just done the move thing less than a year ago...well, I LOVED your post both this one and Monday's! I didn't think my poor pregnant body was going to survive the half way across the country move we did last September from PA to IN, but we did...and I promise you the boxes will eventually disappear. : )
Oh, and thank you for the reminder of the FOND memories of my first couple of showers here with that nasty rotten egg smell...wondering...am I...ME...MY BODY...going to SMELL like THAT when I'm done?!?!? UGH! It does get better...and now I only notice it when it rains really heavy.
May God bless you as you enjoy life in your new nest!
    Happy Fourth!

  19. I totally know what you mean about the feeling you get listening to your kids giggle and talk before bed. Hard to go in and tell them to settle down for bed when they are bonding like that.My 4 year old and 2 year old have been sharing a room together for a year now. When my 2 year old daughter wakes up in the middle of the night scared and I come in, she always asks where her big brother is. Hope you got more settled in this weekend and that your internet is up and running soon. I would be going crazy by now if it was me!!
