Tight Rolls and High-Waisted Bells
Ok, y'all. Let's talk jeans.
Last week, Mrs. Tom Cruise was out 'n about in NYC wearing these...

See the bottoms of those jeans? OH. MY. WORD.
Yes, I did it. In middle school. Under intense peer pressure.
I'm sorry. But, there is NO WAY on God's green earth that I will ever do that, again.
So, if tight-rolled 1989 wasn't bad enough, today she was donning these...

NO WAY.
NOT HAPPENING.
I'm not doing 1970's Farrah Fawcett, either.
I don't know what Katie Holmes is smokin', but she needs to hand it back to Tom Cruise.
Immediately.

Oh, the rolling. That took me immediately back. I don't think I will ever forget how to successfully roll your jeans to stay put all day long.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, she is not looking good!
Oh, how I long to see photos of you sporting that tight-rolled look back in the day.
ReplyDeleteLaughing... Sar, you crack me up. You rarely show this really opinionated side... but I TOTALLY agree with you. Not doing the roll up pants thing. Not doing the high waisted jean line, either.
ReplyDeleteAnd as cute as Katie is, this isn't her most flattering style.
Must be tough to stay trendy and cosmo as a celebrity.
This post was hilarious.
Second comment: I do, however, like her shiny maroon Mary Janes. VERY cute.
ReplyDeleteThat first picture, on the left, looks like a pair of mens jeans....
ReplyDeleteYUCK! Double YUCK!
So, yeah, any pictures? ;)
We've already had the tight-roll discussion, but those high-waisted ones scare me more than the tight rolls! The whole idea is to HIDE the baby belly, not accentuate it! Of course, Katie Holmes doesn't have the baby belly like some less ambitious mother I know (ME!), but still, she could have pity on the rest of us.
ReplyDeleteThanks for that dose of celebrity gossip. Oh no she didn't!!! Nothing good came from fashion in those decades.
ReplyDeleteBTW...I just noticed your archive title changed to "THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID" Oh my goodness...h-i-l-a-r-i-o-u-s!!!
No No No not the tight "fold over" rolls! I wont do it again, and I wont teach my kids how to do it,,, I wont!
ReplyDeleteLOL.....Gotta tell ya though , I had my ankle rolls perfect back in the day! Katie's are awefuL!
I vividly remember painstakingly folding my jeans to get them "just right" followed by teasing my bangs and spraying a TON of hairspray so a hurricane wind couldn't move them. Took forever to get ready for school those days.
ReplyDeleteWhile I too wouldn't want to go back...I must admit I admire her for doing it... to say "Hey, I wanna bring back a trend, be myself, who cares." While I may disagree with the choice, I applaud the boldness.
I ACTUALLY may have a picture of you in those jeans. With a Limited rolled collar sweater and SEBAGO's!!!!!!!!!!! I am in hysterics :) San
ReplyDeleteShe needs to hand Tom his jeans back, too! ugh...as if I have perfect fashion :)
ReplyDeleteOh boy! I lived through those fashion phases once and really don't need to see or do them again!
ReplyDeleteimmediately!! who even makes these sorts of jeans?
ReplyDeleteLOL! You are so funny Sarah!
ReplyDeleteOh those pants bring back the memories. I was not happy to see this fashion come back. Hopefully pinning the jeans doesn't come back, I don't think my ankles have recovered yet.
Didnt we all wear our pants that way? It was a fashion faux pas for sure even back then, but there is absolutely no excuse for wearing jeans that way now ---- especially for someone who can afford to wear ANY outfit from ANY store in the world. UGH!
ReplyDeleteShe did NOT peg-leg those jeans - that was horrible then and it's horrible now. But I suppose when you are worth a gazillion bucks - you can do whatever you want - and unfortunately, people will follow.
ReplyDeleteThis is really funny :)
Yeah, but can she tight-roll the bells?!!!
