Christmas Cookie #2: Chocolate Dipped Pretzels

Two bowls of melted chocolate, a bag of pretzel rods, and some Christmas sprinkles made for a great time at our house today - and a pretty fantastic looking bunch of cookies.
The boys had a BLAST dipping the pretzels into the "choc-wit" and picking out which kind of sprinkles they wanted to use on each one.
Our lesson: The shepherds (whose staffs resemble our pretzels) were so excited to tell everyone about the new baby Jesus. We want to tell everyone about Jesus, too.
Chocolate Dipped Pretzels
our own "recipe"...
1 bag pretzel rods
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup white chocolate chips
Assorted Christmas sprinkles
Melt chocolate chips in microwave in two separate bowls at 70% power for 1 minute. Remove and stir. Continue microwaving in 20 second intervals and stirring until chocolate is melted and smooth.
Dip pretzel rods into melted chocolate. Decorate with desired sprinkles. Place on foil covered cookie sheets until chocolate has hardened. Serve in small glass hurricane.

i love chocolate dipped pretzels and what a great lesson to go with them :)
ReplyDeleteEXCELLENT IDEA!
ReplyDeleteI need to bake 5-10 dozen cookies for a fund-raiser. These are perfect, and can be bagged decoratively for sale. AWESOME, SS!
I'm also baking oatmeal-raspberry bar cookies, and may do one more.
ReplyDeleteYummers. I wike "choc-wit". Good job, guys!

ReplyDeleteMy mom was here yesterday and made these with the kids...well, with those that weren't sacked out on the couch!
This could be the perfect thing for the kids to make for their SS and BSF teachers. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteNow you're talking, CHOCOLATE! Love the boys faces. I was just telling a friend about the joy of kissing Lincoln's little head. Nothing quite like it!
ReplyDeleteLove the idea and lesson! For us adults, I've made these, sprinkled with heath bar bits or crushed nuts. Yummy!
ReplyDeleteThis cookie idea is very fun!
I feel like Aimee, though, wishing Jules was home to do more fun things with, instead of at school. She has off 2 weeks for Christmas though, so I may tuck a few of these ideas away for then!
These look so easy! Great idea, Sarah!
ReplyDeleteI tried making these with Princess last year and ours didn't come out anywhere near as good looking. Maybe we'll try again.
ReplyDeleteGirl, you are going to single handedly bring me and the Big D down with these posts! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI made these for the bake sale, using almond bark. Well, I tried to. My son keeps grabbing them and eating them.
