GIVEAWAY: A Blurb Book For You!
Well, y'all. 'Tis the continuing season of giveaways around here.
So, I just spent two days telling you all about the Blurb cookbook that I made, then shared some of the tips, tricks, and time savers that I learned while creating my book.
Well, the PR folks at Blurb found their way to my blog yesterday, and asked if I wanted to give five of you a free Blurb book of your own.
I was all calm-like. To them. But, I was so giddy that I cracked open a pack of Oreos to celebrate. 'Cause I'm so excited that a few of you will get to create Blurb books - on the house.
The five winners will get a $29.95 bookmaking credit to Blurb to create whatever kind of book you'd like. You can use your credit towards the book and shipping, so you should be able to create a book for absolutely FREE!
Looking for some bookmaking inspiration? Visit Blurb’s Bookstore (www.blurb.com/bookstore) and browse the staff picks or take a peek at books by genre. Anyone who publishes a book through Blurb can elect to make their book public in the Bookstore and sell it for a profit (you can set your own price and keep 100% of the mark-up!). So, if you've got a great idea, you can make some big bucks. Or, you can just make it available for your family and friends to purchase at the regular cost of the book. There are thousands of creative books in the Bookstore, and you’ll come away with lots of fun bookmaking ideas.
Here's how to win:
1. Click over to the Blurb website.
2. Browse through the different types of books.
3. Leave a comment with the kind of book you'd be interested in making.
That's it! Can't wait to see what kinds of books y'all want to make. Oh, and please leave your email address in your comment if your profile doesn't link to it.
I'll leave this giveaway open until Monday, January 12th at 5pm EST. And, I'll let the good ol' random thingy choose the winners that night.
Have fun!
*Comments are now closed. Winners will be announced later tonight.

I would love to a wedding one. I would take all my photos out of my outdated scrapbook and redo them. They aren't the cool photos like everyone has now, but it would be cool!
ReplyDeleteooooh, I hope I win one!! Ok, so I would make a photo book, for sure!!! I would make it vacation themed and pull out all old vacation pics! Thanks Sarah! You rock!
ReplyDeleteI TOTALLY want to win this one. (congrats to you for getting noticed by PR folks, how cool is that?) I would do a photo book as our family scrapbook for 2008.

I checked out Blurb right after reading your first post earlier this week and began dreaming about what kind of book(s) I could create. I would love to present my husband with a photo book for our 34th wedding annivsary on May 4th!
ReplyDeleteThe cookbook you did for your sister turned out beautifully!

I would do the blog book. I heard about Blurb a year ago or so and since I've been terrible about the baby book thing, I'm relying on my blog to help remember some of the milestones. How cool to make a blog into a book! Looking forward to Monday night!
ReplyDeleteHow cool! My oldest will be graduating this year (tears). I think it would be really neat to make a book of memories for him.
ReplyDeleteCrossing my fingers (and toes).
-Smiles!
I would love to make a book that has pictures of all of my childrens' artwork and projects for the year, so that it can all be kept in the book rather than keeping all of the work itself!!
ReplyDeleteOh how fun! I loved your cookbook idea- but I would probably have to choose between making a wedding book for my sister who was married in June and making a photo/text book of our Bangladesh pictures from our trip this fall. That would make a great coffee table book.
ReplyDeleteHave I ever told you how much you ROCK?
ReplyDeleteFirst, the whole cookie thing and all your connections - you never cease to amaze me.
When I clicked from FB, I was thinking it was a contest to win a copy of the cookbook you made - and then, I find out we could make our own! I would have to say, I'd do a cookbook so that I can put all the recipes on the ol' cooking blog into a book! :-)
Hope you are hanging in there!!
Hi Sara, what a great idea! i am thinking if i get the chance, to make a family scrapbook for all my siblings to have (there are 8 of us). i always enjoy reading your blog!
ReplyDeleteTotally would do a wedding book. Haven't done that yet, it's been almost 5 years. Oops! :)
ReplyDeleteA baby book would be good too considering I haven't started that either...and it's almost 2 years.
Your cookbook was wonderful and such a great gift idea. It turned out great! Thanks for doing this giveaway-you're awesome!

I was thinking about doing 2 different kinds of photo books - ones of past pictures scanned in, or one of current pics of the kids/fam as gifts to grandparents. Not to mention, they would be so much easier than photo albums in this digital age. I'm so excited about this give-away!!! That's awesome that Blurb is letting you do this!
ReplyDeleteLuuuuuuuuuuuuv the idea! I think a wedding book for Alicia would be great and something she would totally love.
ReplyDeleteStill thinking you should publish your cookie book. It was the most fun and I loved each day you posted.
I would love to make a journal type book for my sister and friends. A combination of recipes, thoughts, pictures and memories. I love the whole idea and am going to make one regardless of winning. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWOO HOO
ReplyDeletetotally sweet, and i'm totally in.
i'd like to make a picture book of our vacation to south america. i'm usually a scrapbooker, but i'm pretty behind and that is a pretty big project. SO a blurb book would be fantastic.
Grandmapatti said she would maake a book for the grandkids to tell them about the many attributes and names of God....then it would also have pictures of the grandkids
ReplyDeleteex
A is for Amazing (picture of Todd doing a magic trick)
B is for beautiful (picture of one of the girls)
C is for caring (picture of 2 of them hugging)
think it would be a cool book
I love your cookbook so much that I want one of my own!
ReplyDeleteI would love to make a cookbook of my family's recipes. Or, I would like to make books of fun trips that I've been on. :) thanks, sarah!
ReplyDeletemy email: kerrilmyers@gmail.com
It's hard to choose! We want to do a wedding book that includes pictures from childhood and our dating years. We also want to do a family yearbook every year. But I also want to do a cookbook of my mom's best recipes. Ah, the possibilities:)!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! I checked out the Blurb site when you posted about it and began to dream of lots of books. I think a cookbook would be fun to do!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful give-away. I like all of the book ideas, actually, but love the business portfolio idea the most... perfect to create and take with me to client meetings.
ReplyDeleteI would love to do a blog book. I have had my eye on the Blurb site for over a year now, and wanted to do this once I had enough entries in my blog. I think it would be great to have a memoir for my kids.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway, thank you so much for the offer. I also have to say that your cookbook looks great! And I know there are some pretty awesome recipes in there (maybe you should try selling that one!)
I really want to do a family photo book of last year!
ReplyDeleteAmy
craig_amyschroeder@sbcglobal.net
Delurking, 'cause this is so awesome! I've been dying to make my two year old daughter a "People Who Love You" book... or to make a wedding book since i never had a normal wedding album made!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great opportunity! I've looked at Blurb's website and have been really impressed with how many pages they allow for a photo book. That's what I'd be interested in. I have four children with many, MANY photos from our year last year. Instead of getting prints, I'd like to make a photo book. How fun!
ReplyDeleteThank you for thinking of us!
Carrie Southland

I'd make a photo book! How generous of you! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI would love to surprise my parents with a "wedding" book (41 years later) What a fun idea!
ReplyDeleteKeri Roth
keri.roth@sbcglobal.net
I think I would save it for in a couple of months and make a wedding book for Missy and Tim. We have already been collecting pictures to make a book for her.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sarah!
Is it poor form to enter even though I won your last one??
ReplyDeleteI've wanted a Blurb book for so long. I would LOVE to make my first blog into a book. It details my daughter's first year.
I'd create a blog book. No doubt.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm pretty sure you know what kind of book I'd make (it's about time, right?!). That reminds me, gotta get you some pictures...I'll get right on that :) Love you!
ReplyDeleteEasy: I want a cookbook!
ReplyDeleteBTW, I posted about your "power lunch of moms everywhere" blog post on familyeducation.com today. :)
sweetpeaeats@gmail.com
How cool are you? Seriously, Blurb people calling you up...you're famous! I'd love to win...have been thinking about doing a bloggy blurb for quite some time, I'm going to check out your tips and tricks...just in case I win!!
ReplyDeleteThat's great that Blurb contacted you. It really does pay to blog. If I won, I would love to do a cookbook of my favorite recipes that I use all the time so I don't have to hunt through recipe cards, magazines and other cookbooks. Thanks!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have heard about blurb before and a friend told me about your helpful post. Thank you so much for all the tips...I'm definitely going to use it If I win (crossing my fingers) I would love to put my blog into a photobook as my "scrapbook" because that is basically why I am blogging! Although I do LOVE your cookbook idea...maybe that will be next! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to make a book for my husband with stories and photos of our dear, fuzzy cat "son" who makes us laugh constantly and strikes the funniest poses. We have several hard drives full of pictures of our little Scottish fold, and take new ones every day. Whenever we tell our family and friends about his latest exploit, they always say, "You should write a book about him!"

I would love to do a wedding book, it would be fun to have all the pictures in one place.
ReplyDeletemensonides77@hotmail.com
Wow! You are the queen of giveaways lately...
ReplyDeleteI love the cookbook idea and I definitely keeping that one in the back of my mind for when my brother gets engaged.
For now, I would do a photobook. I would do our San Diego vacation, the outdoor photo shoot from the summer and give it to the grandparents, or a wedding book. I love the idea of getting our wedding photos into a more professional book, both the candid and professional shots.
BTW- did you get my email about my sawdust city sign?
OOOOO what an awesome giveaway! I already know that I want to make a book and hopefully I win this *prays real hard*. My husband writes short stories for fun and has them printed on paper bound with just a binder clip. He always talks about wanting to publish his work. I so want to "publish" his work and give him all his stories in a real book. I'm sure it'd make him speechless!
ReplyDeletegodzlilprincess_03@yahoo.com
How do you find such cool stuff. It looks really neat!
ReplyDeleteI would definitly do the text/photo and a cookbook. You did an amazing job sharing your tips and I was so excited to get started on my own.
ReplyDeleteOkay, you know you're a blog addict when you recognize the blog in the header of the BLURB photo you have up -- that Blog Book is from Sheye Rosemeyer's blog!! If I win I would make a standard portrait blog without a dust jacket. I want to make a blog book -- I wish they could use blogpot! Since they don't I'd do a photobook of Brady. I also love the cookbook idea!
ReplyDeleteI would love to make a wedding book of my wedding pictures! There really are so many books I would love to make though. I love to cook, so a cookbook would be fun! Although I should probably get a few more years under my belt before attempting that one!!
ReplyDeleteThe cookbook is certainly tempting--but what I'd really like to do is put together a book with my siblings and cousins' memories of life at Grandma and Grandpa's. I'm part of a large "clan" (my maternal grandparents have over 50 grandkids) and have thought that making a book of memories for Grandma and Grandpa would encourage them a good deal. I've been in the brainstorming mode with the cousins--and I think that doing a Blurb Book would be just fantastic!
ReplyDeleteOh, that would be so wonderful! I would probably make a square or landscape one as an awesome way to document my baby's first year. I have some awesome photos that I'd love to make a book out of.
ReplyDeleteA photo book sounds terrific! Thanks for sharing:)
ReplyDeleteI think I'd like to do a blog book... it would be neat to chronicle all of Morgan's funny ways.
ReplyDeleteEmily D.
I would love to make a cookbook! I started to create a book of my grandmas recipes for my sister and never completed it(shame on me)! This would be an awesome motivator!
ReplyDeleteBoy, it's so hard to choose!!!! I think I would pick either the blog book (I just started blogging about a month ago), or the photo book. May be if I win one, then I will pay to do the other one!!!!
ReplyDeleteI checked out their site when you first posted about them. I would love to make a baby book for my daughter. She is 6 already and I still hadn't found a baby book I liked until I saw these.
ReplyDeleteMelissa
This sounds fun. I think I would do a book about our family vacation this summer.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I loved all your cookie recipes this Christmas. I made quite a few of them. Thanks.
I love the idea, and am glad you posted about it! My family has a mixed background and I would love to put together a collection of favorite family recipes... from hungarian, to polish, to italian... ;)
ReplyDeleteThese are so great! I would love to make one for my parents. They are celebrating their 40th anniversary this summer and we are doing a big party. This would be a great way to show pictures and tell stories about their life together so far. Good for you for getting noticed, by the way!
ReplyDeleteThis just might be my chance to put all the scrapebooking paper, stickers and stencils away and make my photo books in a flash ;-D
ReplyDeleteEven if I don't win, I think I'm going this route next time!!
I would like to make my blog into a book, since it has basically been a journal for our family.
ReplyDeletedurhamdotemilyatgmaildotcom
I'd love to take all my recipes from my 3-ring binder and turn it into a great looking cookbook.
ReplyDeletedani_mnzatyahoodotcom
What a neat idea. Sign me up.
ReplyDeleteI would either love a photo book or a recipe book.
These look so fun! I would definitely do a blog book to highlight some of my favorite things my kids have done or said.
ReplyDeleteI would make a blog book - not the whole blog, just the part about our adoption...and I would make two, one for each of the children we adopted!
ReplyDeleteI think I would do a blog book...or maybe make a book for Adeline of some of her big life events that occurred after I finished her baby book.
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice being friends with someone famous who has lots of connections. ;o)
Wow - these books are so stinkin neat. There's so much you could do.
ReplyDeleteI think I would make a family book. I come from a large fam. I'd order a second copy for my Gram.
I would have to choose Children. As a grandmother I appreciate the gift God has given me and I take pics of them all the time because the grow and change so fast.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this wonderful site and a chance to win one.
If I wanted to be selfish, I'd make my own Blog book. However, since my sister and her husband just came to Japan to come see us, I'd make a travel book for them. :) Can't wait to hear who wins-----what a great opportunity! Thanks Sarah.
ReplyDeleteI'd make a standard landscape book for each of the major family vacations, and one for my pictures from college. The physical photos are all in boxes and never get looked at, and it's kind of sad.
ReplyDeleteI would definitly do the text/photo and a cookbook. You did an awesome job sharing your tips and I was excited to get started on my own. One way or the other I will be making one. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteDebbie
I would love to do a photo book for the grandmothers for mothers' day...of course I'd have to get one for me too! Oh, how fun! This takes me back to my yearbooking days!
ReplyDeleteYour cookbook is fabulous by the way!!!
Oh man, what an awesome giveaway. I'm actually working on a blurb book of a compolation of memories blurbs from different people. One memory from a certain age range or one memory per year. But I've also always wanted to make a coffee table type book of photography and stories about hands. I know it's sounds different - but being a photographer I'm just drawn to peoples hands and the stories they have to tell. The work they've done, the children they've held. The love they've given. So I think I would do that one :)
ReplyDeletejodi at jodimichelle dot com
I think i would do a family scrapbook . I love their books
ReplyDeleteSince I read your first post I have thought it would be a great format for me to make a book for each child with their pictures from childhood since they no longer are at home. I'm looking for a good scanner.
ReplyDeleteHey you! I would definately do a blog book of the last couple years, starting with my pregnancy. It's a bummer it doesn't work with blogger anymore, but I think the time of putting all the posts and pictures in would be TOTALLY worth it!
ReplyDeleteI would definitely do a photo book. I still owe my husband one for last Fathers's day!
ReplyDeletei would totally do the blog style book, in the square format.... too neat! i just love that idea! i used to print out my blog every once in a while for safekeeping... this is way neater!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, tough choice! It would be really nice to have a blog book for the memories... but it would also be fun to do a photo book for me. Showcasing all the photos I'm proud of in the last 3 years since I've had my digital camera!
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat thing for you too, to get noticed for your enthusiasm over their product!
teacherkrista at gmail dot com
Thanks for the awesome contest!
ReplyDeleteI think it would be a toss up between a cookbook and baby photo books for each of my kids!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed :)
I have been telling myself I need to slurp my blog, at least year 2008. Help me! S I would like a blog book. But your cookbook book sounds like something our family has wanted to do. Hope I win!!
ReplyDeleteAlyzabeth's Mommy
Forever Family Day 09/16/08
I would probably do a family yearbook since I'm not motivated about scrapbooking.
ReplyDeleteI would love to make a cookbook! They all look great!
ReplyDeletei LOVE this! i have never heard of Blurb, but will be checking them out.
ReplyDeletei would make a cookbook too. honestly, i have already been photographing meals we make, and recipes are in a folder on my computer. we have talked for years about making a cookbook as gifts, and every year it is the smae thing..."next christmas, next christmas."
with Blurb it looks like next christmas is possible!
this is awesome!!
btw- i like how your meals were photographed on a table outside, hmmm. i may have to steal that idea.
i would love to make a cookbook or a book of my photos, but what i would make if i won would be so much more special. my sister-in-law/best friend died of cancer december 5th and as part of her memorial service my niece and i put together picutres of her life - from baby pictures to pictures taken a few weeks before she went home - on a dvd. i would love to take all these pictures and put them into a book for our family. and, doing it on blurb would be perfect because then other friends and family could order a copy if they wanted one.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking it would be neat to have an annotated book of Brett's artwork through the years, since so much of it can't be displayed in our house (and he's not terribly fond of staring at his own work all the time, as good as it is!!). I'd have to photograph a lot of stuff but it would be so neat to have it all in one book in a "professional" format and it would be a fun project for us to do together.
