I Just Had To Know
See this?
It is the sun shining on my back deck. PRAISE JESUS for 60 degree weather and the cabin fever deranged kiddos that played outside for 6 hours yesterday. Oh, spring - welcome, welcome, welcome! We have been waiting for you.
It is also a very large piece of The Pioneer Woman's "The Best Chocolate Sheet Cake. Ever."
I had to know what all the fuss was about. Oh, and there's been a whole lotta fussin' about this cake. I've read about it all over the place.
And, well? When someone, even someone like The Pioneer Woman, calls something the "Best Chocolate [Anything]", that's it. Game on. I gotta know.
So, on Sunday night, I made "The Best Chocolate Sheet Cake. Ever."
And, SWEET, SWEET MERCY - it is one delicious cake. And, it's easy. So, so easy.
I think it's the pecans in the icing. Or the ONE POUND of butter (minus just a tad). Or the fact that the whole shebang is ready in 30 minutes and you can eat it as soon as it comes out of the oven. I don't know - it's all of those things, I guess. (For those of you who can't eat/don't like nuts, they can be omitted.)
It is - most definitely - worthy of its name.
It will serve a boatload of people - and then some. My chocolate-lovin' family, however, will have no trouble finishing it off. 'Cause we've blown through 1/3 of it since Sunday night. The kids absolutely love it. They do. They just can't get enough. (cough, cough)
I wouldn't say it's "The Prettiest Chocolate Sheet Cake. Ever." But, who gives a flyin' whip. When something's this good, it really doesn't matter, now does it?
You can find the recipe over at The Pioneer Woman Cooks.
Right...about...here.
Yet another reason I wish you lived closer....yum!
ReplyDeleteIt looks good except for the fact that there are pecans in it - kind of ruins the whole thing for me! I could probvably eat around them though! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat. You couldn't have warned me that you have a photo of a lucious-looking piece of chocolate cake on your blog? Don't ya know that Lent = No chocolate for JM? You devil woman, you. ;-)
ReplyDeleteAh, I'm glad you made this because I was a-wonderin'
ReplyDeleteLove the Pioneer woman too!!
ReplyDeletethis cake is just what you said, dee-licous, and easy! I plan on keeping this one in my recipe box. I do shudder at the amount of butter though, not good for hubby's hi cholesterol =(
ReplyDeleteUm yeah, I'm gonna have to try making that.
