Christmas Cookie #4: Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies (New for '09!)

I don't like raisins.
So, every time I eat an oatmeal raisin cookie, I pick around the raisins and eat just the cookie part, discreetly tucking the raisins into a napkin or hiding them under my leftover mashed potatoes. (That is a total fabrication. There never have been, nor will there ever be leftover mashed potatoes on any plate of mine.)
Raisins and I may come around one day. We're just not there yet.
But, I LOVE these Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies. LOVE them. No spices. No raisins. Just a chewy in the middle, crunchy on the outside oatmeal cookie dotted with the semi-sweetness I love.
My boys like Oatmeal Raisin cookies. And, they're one of my husband's favorites. But, they know Momma likes chocolate chips in her oatmeal cookies, and they gobble them up with me.
Our lesson: God made each of us with different likes and dislikes. He loves each of us the same even though we're all different!
Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
3 tablespoons milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 cups oatmeal
1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine flour, salt, and baking powder in a small bowl. Set aside.
In a mixing bowl, combine butter, brown sugar, sugar and beat until creamy. Add eggs, milk and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Add oats and chocolate chips. Beat just until combined.
Using a cookie scoop or two spoons, drop cookies onto ungreased baking sheet.
Bake for 8 minutes, or until cookies are slightly undercooked in the center, but crispy on the edges. (Centers will cook as they cool.)
I like raisins, but chocolate is good too! Thanks for another great recipe!
