Alright, Sarah! So, What's *REALLY* Been Going On?

Oh my.

(Deep breath)

SO much to tell.

I have to tell you before I spill the beans about what's been going on in my life that I have read every single one of your emails over the past month. Every one of them. And, while I just couldn't respond to all of them, I want you to know that I appreciated them and your concern for me.

Are you expecting twins? (Nope. Just one little bean in there.)

Are you writing your cookbook? (One day.)

Is everything OK with the baby? (Baby is GREAT!)

Are you finished with blogging? (NO WAY!)

I know, from experience, what happens when you read a blog - either for a short time, or for many years - you become very interested and involved in the life of that blogger. And, when they just kind of stop blogging, you wonder what's happened, and if they're OK, and most of all, WHERE ARE THEY?

Well, today - I'm gonna tell you where I've been and what I've been doing:

I have been up to my eyeballs in packing tape.

And, packing paper.

And, boxes and boxes and boxes.

And, all sorts of people have been traipsing through my house - potential buyers, stagers, realtors, inspectors, and contractors.

In case you haven't guessed, WE ARE MOVING!

Oh, it feels so good to *finally* say that on here.

WE ARE MOVING! My little family is packing up and moving to Raleigh, North Carolina.

And, we are moving in less than 2 weeks.

We expected our move to be much more drawn out. We put our house on the market mid-March, and it sold in 2 WEEKS! We were shocked. We still are. We live in a state where the real estate market is not favorable to sellers (at all!), but in God's great mercy and grace, He brought the perfect buyers along and saved us from what we thought would be months and months of attempting to keep our house in perfect order with three little boys afoot.

These perfect buyers also wanted a very quick closing. 28 days. One day, we thought we'd be here for the summer - hoping and praying to be able to move before the baby was born. The next day, we found out we had to be out of our house in less than a month. Talk about CRA-ZY!

And, so - for the last several months, I have been utterly consumed with all of the things that a family must do to move cross-country:

Clean.
Purge.
Pack.
Stage.
Show.
Show.
Show.
Get offer. (Jump up and down!)
Accept offer.
Hop in car.
Drop off kiddos with Grandma and Grandpa.
Secure temporary housing in Raleigh.
Return home.
Pack.
Purge.
Pack.
Purge.
Get moving truck.

And, that's where we are. This week, our moving truck arrives. I can hardly believe it.

I have missed blogging. Oh, I have missed it. But, as I wrote earlier, I felt that God was calling me to spend what free time I had praying, listening, and preparing my heart for the changes ahead.

It was exactly what I needed. It was what my husband and I needed. God has been with us through every step of this process, and while He would have been here regardless of our pursuit of Him, we've gotten to enjoy His intimate company along the way.

It's been a beautiful, meaningful time.

I am SO excited and ready to get back at this little blog, again. I have pictures to show you, stories to tell, and some new recipes to share. Oh, I have some really good recipes to share!

It's so good to be back!

Looking forward to hearing more when you get situated, but I must admit that I'm still a little bummed that you are deserting us before we could get together again!

  4. Hi Sarah and welcome back! I'm just one of those lurkers who never really leave any comments, but just wanted to let you know I'm very happy for you that the moving situation came together for you with such speed. I know that feeling. I have 4 kids myself and the stress of selling one house to look for another can be quite consuming!!! Takes lots of photos of all those boxes & packing tape. It makes quite a fun scrapbook later to look back on later on!

  12. I'm so glad to hear from you. I didn't know what had happened and thought about e-mailing.

One thing about blog friends, you can take them with you when you move and you can pack all of them in your computer.

  22. I got your blog link months ago from a friend making one of your recipes one night. I have been a follower every since and have tried many of your amazing recipes myself (my husband looks forward to me making your recipes!). We are transplants from upstate NY and live outside of Raleigh now and I think you'll love all there is to do in the area with your boys all in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area. :) Hope you enjoy it here!
