Handprints and Hand-holding

Today, we walked hand in hand into the building.

Just him and me.

He placed his birth certificate up on the counter, pulled himself up so he could see the curly-haired lady staring back and him, and proudly announced, "This says I'm five now."

A few minutes and a stack of papers later, we walked out of the office.

Just outside the office door, painted on the hallway walls are handprints. Hundreds of handprints. His brother's is there. And, in a few short months, his will be there, too.

We stopped and I took his picture. Is this really the baby we used to call, "Tiny"?

Today, I registered him for Kindergarten.

Tomorrow, I'll drop him off at his college dorm room.

At least that's what they tell me.

As we walked out of the building, he reached up and grabbed my hand.

The hand that, for today, still willingly slips into mine.

  4. I really enjoy reading your posts. Your boys are so sweet. I have a second grader and a soon to be preschooler so I know exactly what you mean. It all happens in the blink of any eye!I miss my kids baby years and wish I could re-live them all over again! They are to be treasured.

My youngest baby boy passed away in January, at only 7 weeks old and I miss him so very much. I was looking forward to having him in our life, growing our family of four and enjoying his baby smiles. But, I guess God had a different plan for us. I'm not quite sure what it is and why this happened but I'm working on it.

I hope you'll take the time to read my blog. It's www.foodjules.com.

By the way, I love your photos. You are a great photographer. That's something that I have to work on but I guess that means I need to buy a better camera :)
